Private Plane Crashes in Chattanooga TN

Chattanooga TN - A twin-engine aircraft fell just short of its planned landing at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport on Wednesday night, hitting an unoccupied car but appearing to cause no fatal injuries.

The plane, reportedly a Beechcraft King Air turbo-prop, left Birmingham, Ala., for Chattanooga at 6:36 p.m. The airport was notified at 8:18 p.m. that the plane had gone down. Low fuel was being investigated as a possible cause for the crash.

The aircraft reportedly hit a telephone pole before landing in the parking lot of a shopping center. The four men inside, some of whom reportedly are from Tallahassee, Fla., were taken to a local hospital with varying degrees of injuries. The plane was owned by Air Amteck out of Lexington, Ky.

Authorities were not able to immediately release the identities of the victims but said all four were listed in stable condition late Wednesday.

Officials with the federal Flight Standards district office out of Nashville are expected take over investigation into the crash.
