The Tennessee Department of Safety announced that race car driver Troy Warren Critchley was indicted by a Special McNairy County Grand Jury on six counts of vehicular homicide due to recklessness and twenty-two counts of reckless aggravated assault. These charges resulted from a crash that occurred during a parade at the "Cars for Kids" charity event that was held in Selmer, Tennessee on June 16, 2007.
In the crash, six spectators were killed and twenty-two suffered serious injuries that required hospitalization and, for some, continued rehabilitation. Mr. Critchley's drag racing car went out of control as he was doing an "exhibition burn out" in which a driver spins the tires to make them heat up and smoke.
