Examples Of Our Work

Members of The Williams Law Group have successfully represented individuals in a wide variety of matters.  Listed below are a few examples of both past and current cases in which we represent individuals in enforcing their rights and obtaining compensation for their injuries.  As always, in describing these examples, all of our clients' identities are kept in strict confidence.

Auto Accidents

A $6,200,000.00 jury verdict was obtained in Sumner County, Tennesse, for a wonderful mother and wife who lost not only her leg, but also her independence in an automobile accident.  The jury sided with B. Keith Williams and his client on both the issues of liability and damages after a lengthly trial.

We are representing a medical doctor (M.D.) who was forced to retire from the National Guard due to back injuries sustained after being rear-ended by a driver of an uninsured vehicle.  Suit was filed against our client's uninsured motorist insurance carrier after it refused to compensate our client for over $500,000 in medical bills and lost retirement benefits.

 Aviation Accidents

We are representing the surviving parents of a man who died in the crash of a general aviation aircraft while on approach to landing in Pennsylvania.  The deceased son was piloting the plane when it lost power due to the negligent maintenance of the aircraft by a Tennessee aviation company.

Commercial Aviation Accidents

We are representing the family of one of the victims of the Comair Flight 5191 disaster that occurred on August 29, 2006 in Lexington, Kentucky.  The Delta commuter carrier's captain and first officer attempted to take off on the wrong runway, killing 49 persons onboard.

Construction Accidents

We are representing a young gentleman who was rendered permanently and totally disabled while working as a metal fabricator.  His crew was building a boiler for the Tennessee Valley Authority when the duct work shifted, trapping our client underneath the 30,000 pound structure.

Dangerous Products

We have recently filed suit against an Ohio manufacturer of a "zero turn radius" power mower that overturned, leaving our client in a parapalegic state.  Had the mower been equiped with a "roll bar" and seat belt or "ROPS" and/or been equipped with a slope indicator, our client would have only sustained minimal or no injuries.

Medical Malpractice

A confidential settlement was reached in a wrongful death/medical malpractice case against a middle Tennessee primary care physician.  The wife of a middle aged man alleged that the primary care physician was negligent in failing to notify a surgeon treating her husband of the patient's medical history, which included homocystinuria, blood clots, and pulmonary embolism. The patient died in his wife's arms less than an hour after returning home from the hospital.  The autopy report stated the probable cause of death was pulmonary embolism secondary to deep venous thrombosis. Negligence was alleged against the primary care physician for failing to provide the patient with reasonable and necessary medical treatment postoperatively.

Motorcycle Accidents

We represent a Tennessee resident who was taking a two week biking trip through the midwest States.   While in Dauie County, Nebraska, he approached an intersection.   Not realizing that the vehicle in front of him was slowing because the trailer the vehicle was pulling had no lights, in an evasive manouver he tried to pass on the left.  Unfortunately the vehicle he was following turned left, severely injuring the bike rider.

Nursing Home Abuse

Five adult children of an elderly lady receiving care in a local nursing home employed our firm after receiving news of their mother's unexpected death.  In their complaint the family alleged the nursing home was negligent in the care of the elderly mother.  The evidence supported that the elderly lady sustained injuries to her head, hip, and knee from three (3) separate falls within a three (3) day period.  A confidential settlement was reached for the wrongful death after a successful mediation.

Personal Injury

We currently are representing an elderly gentleman who was severely injured when struck by an automatic sliding door while attending an appointment with one of his regular doctors.  The manafacturer of the door had warned the property owner that the doors needed "daily safety checks" because the doors were very sensitive and were known to malfunction and injure people.  The medical center's property owners disregarded the manufacturer's warnings and failed to perform the required "daily safety checks."  Had the inspections been performed on the day of our client's visit, the malfunction would have been discovered and repairs would have been made before our client's arrival.

We represented a young man who was crushed when a metal die weighing 2500 pounds fell on him.  We brought suit against two foreign companies and their employees who we alleged were responsible for the machine containing the die and for ensuring that they were safely installed.  A confidential settlement was reached prior to trial in this matter.

Vehicle Rollover

A confidential settlement was recently reached in favor of a 16 year old in which the small SUV he was riding became top heavy causing the driver to lose control, leave the roadway and roll over onto it's roof.  The roof of the SUV crushed down onto the passengers killing two of the passengers and leaving the 16 year old severely injured.  It was our argument that although the manufacturer knew or should have known that these small SUV's were top heavy and prone to rollovers, it still did not manufacture the roof support pillars strong enough to withstand a rollover.
