All injuries should be reported right away to your employer.  Under the Tennessee Workers Compensation law, you must notify your employer of an injury within 30 days.  This is normally your human relations manager but notice of your injury to your supervisor is sufficient.  Try to give the notice in writing, if possible. The first report of work injury is then to be completed by the employer.  There after, your employer is required to provide you and a panel of three physicians to have your injury evaluated.  If the general practitioner doctor thinks you need a specialist such as an orthopedic surgeon, then your employer is required to give you a choice of three specialists in your community. You will then choose one of the three medical providers who will become your treating physician at the employer's expense. A signed agreement concerning the chosen physician is required between the employer and employee. This is known as a C-42 form, which the original must be kept by the employer and a copy must be provided to the employee and the division of workers' compensation. If you are having trouble with your employer refusing to follow the law, please call or click to discuss your work related injury with a real attorney at The Williams Law Group.  We can help!
