Tennessee Has It's Share of Dangerous Interstates That Run Throughout the State

Interstates in TN:

I-40 Interstate 40 is the longest interstate in Tennessee. It runs from North Carolinia in the east to Arkansas in the western part of the state. Cities along the route of I 40 include Knoxville, Crossville, Cookeville, Lebanon, Nashville, Jackson and Memphis.

I-840 Interstate 840 is planned to make a very large loop which not only by-passes Nashville, but is intended to connect many of Middle Tennessee cities and counties. When I 840 when finally completed will pass through the following counties and cities: Lebanon, Wilson County; Murfreesboro, Rutherford County; Franklin, Williamson County and the City of Dixon, Dixon County, TN.

I-65 Interstate 65 runs from Portland, TN and Franklin, KY which both border the two states in Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky. It runs south to Alabama where it crosses our southern border near Ardmore, TN. Cities along the way of I 65 include White House, Goodlettsville, Millersville, Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin; Columbia, Pulaski, Lewisburg and Lawrenceburg.

I-24 Interstate 24 runs from Clarksville in the Northern part of Middle Tennessee to Chattanooga in southern East Tennessee where it meets up with I 75 before crossing into Georgia. Cities between the two borders along the route of I 24 include Nashville, Murfreesboro, Manchester, Tullahoma, Monteagle, Jasper and South Pittsburg.

I-440 Interstate 440 makes a partial loop around Nashville. Some of the majir intersections with I 440 are Nolensville Road, Hillsboro Road, West End Avenue and Metro Center Blvd.

I-75 Interstate 75 runs from the Kentucky border in the north eastern part of the state near Jellico, TN south to Chattanooga before crossing over into Georgia. Cities along the way of I 75 include Clinton, Lake City, Knoxville, Lenoir City, Sweetwater, Athens, Cleveland and Chattanooga.

I-55 Interstate 55 primarily runs north and south and lies entirely within the city of Memphis.

I-81 Interstate 81 extends from the northeast corner of the state near Bristol and the Virginia border to Interstate 40 near Dandridge just east of Knoxville. Cities along the way of I 81 are Kingsport and Johnson City.

I-140 Interstate 140 travels from West Knoxville near ending in it's southern most point near Maryville. It passes through Alcoa along the way.

I-640 Interstate 640 is a northern by-pass that loops around Knoxville on it's northern side.
