Cookeville TN Auto Accidents - Five Injured in Two Separate Crashes

Five people were injured in two separate car crashes in Cookeville, TN on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.  Three were injured in the first: Meredith Jeanette Hudson, 39, and Kristen Hudson, 16, both of Lafayette, TN; and Jeffrey Richards, 42, of Cookeville, TN.   Two people were injured in the second: J. Mackie, 54, of Cookeville, TN and Mary Flatt, 81, also of Cookeville, who remains in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, suffered the most serious injuries according to the herald-citizen.com.  Three of the victims were transported by medical emergency helicopters to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville or Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.  The remaining two injured were transported by ambulance to Cookeville Regional Hospital.

One crash was on W. 12th Street (the Gainesboro Grade) near the city limits. The second accident occurred at the intersection of E. Hudgens Street and S. Maple Avenue in Cookeville. 

The causes of the crashes have not yet been determined but both automobile accidents are still under investigation according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
