How long do I have to file a civil lawsuit for an injury or accident in Tennessee?
The statute of limitation for filing a civil lawsuit for an accident or injury case in Tennessee is one (1) year from the date of the event causing the injury. A good example of this would be - you have one year from the date of a car accident or work related injury to file your case in court or workers compensation claim with the Tennessee Department of Labor. (Notice to your employer after a work related injury must be givenwithin 30 days.)
